 Western Chorus Frog

June, 2001- Du Page Co. IL

See my photos of this species

Choruses of these frogs can be heard on warm days in spring.  Their call sounds sort of like when you run your finger down a comb.  I came upon a group that was calling one warm day, and walked into the middle of where they were calling from.  After a few minutes of silence, the frogs became accustomed to my presence, and began calling.  The noise was deafening, and I had a ringing in my ears for hours after I left.
